Arrangement

'Arrangement'     /      6x6 in      /    oil on gessoed board

I really enjoy painting amber bottles. They all look dark brown at first. But, if you put it under the light,  some are slightly greenish, some have reddish tint. After all I like the subtle colors.  Here are some of my favourite amber bottles with daisies that I picked up this spring back in May.

The Hidden Tulip

'The Hidden Tulip'      6x6 in      oil on gessoed board

I took a break longer than I originally planned. There were many changes that I had to deal with. I moved my studio and it took a while to get used to it. I finally feel comfortable with my new studio set up and started to paint. Glad to be back to my painting routine. And here is one of my recent paintings - do you see the hidden tulip?

Now I am thinking this painting would look better if I made the lying apple little smaller. Umm.......

Creative Fuel

'Creative Fuel'       6x6 in        oil on canvas panel

I can't remember where I read it - probably it was an online article. It said that since coffee was introduced in the world, people have stayed up late. And that has led people to use their 'coffee-nated energy' to create new ideas like composing a song, writing a book, creating an art piece and a lot more. Probably coffee is not the only one that inspire people but I can see why some think so.

Red Roses

'Red Roses'         6x6 in           oil on canvas board

I know this rose painting isn't the one that people would say "Wow!"  But I am proud of this one. I was usually nervous about painting roses - even though I really wanted to do it - because, for me, it was(still) hard to see their values correctly. I tried to do some drawings of roses in the past but most of them (actually all of them I should say) turned out too flat. But by painting everyday, somehow I am training myself to see things little differently in terms of light/shadow forms and less confused by the hue. Great!!

'Apples with Chopsticks'    NFS     6x6 in      oil on panel

I had a terrible cold for a while. I had lost my voice for two days but fortunately it is back now. I am happy that I can talk without having any pain in my neck.

Galas

Galas        6x6 in      NFS       oil on canvas board

Phew.................... I thought I wouldn't be able to finish this painting but I did it anyway.  When I was done drawing these apples, I was very happy with the set up. And then.......... when I started to color them, the frustration also started. I figured that Galas are not easy subject to paint. The color combination of green and red on their skin is very attractive to look at but because of that, it is hard to paint them. I was kind of lost to judge the value and confused. Oh well.........  I will do better next time. XD
