Pear Study

Pear Study      5x7 in         oil on canvas board

I played with pears today. I would like to practice more on painting pears so I will stay with them for a few days more this week. Speaking of practice, I really need to order a pre-primed canvas roll soon so that I can try different appoaches without wasting panels.

Red Roses

'Red Roses'         6x6 in           oil on canvas board

I know this rose painting isn't the one that people would say "Wow!"  But I am proud of this one. I was usually nervous about painting roses - even though I really wanted to do it - because, for me, it was(still) hard to see their values correctly. I tried to do some drawings of roses in the past but most of them (actually all of them I should say) turned out too flat. But by painting everyday, somehow I am training myself to see things little differently in terms of light/shadow forms and less confused by the hue. Great!!

'Sugar Snap Peas'

'Sugar Snap Peas'       5x7 in       oil on canvas board

Our apartment management said that we won't have hot(possibly not cold water either) until 1pm today due to annual inspections.  It's a good thing that cold water still runs - I can use our toilets and wash my hands BUT my sink is full of dishes and cups from breakfast and ...............I am showerless. I want hot water now !!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hot water has been back since 1pm - they were very keen on time. All my dishes are done and waiting to be dried on the drying rack - shiny and sparkling / nice feeling. And most of all, I am clean too. ** big smile**

Sunshine in my area is getting warmer and warmer. Days are getting longer and longer. It's a good day to go for a walk with friends and have a chat and I did it.  Now I am back at home - posting my painting which was done 2 days ago. I am happy with  the result. Especially the reflection on the cup. It's a calm and nice day. Hope everyone has a good day too. **smile**

Galas

Galas        6x6 in      NFS       oil on canvas board

Phew.................... I thought I wouldn't be able to finish this painting but I did it anyway.  When I was done drawing these apples, I was very happy with the set up. And then.......... when I started to color them, the frustration also started. I figured that Galas are not easy subject to paint. The color combination of green and red on their skin is very attractive to look at but because of that, it is hard to paint them. I was kind of lost to judge the value and confused. Oh well.........  I will do better next time. XD
