I am having a lazy Saturday - treating myself with rosemary scent which one of essential oils that I bought recently. I put a few drops in my diffuser and my studio smells nice now. It makes even  better place to be. I think I'll stay in my studio until the scent disappears. Have a nice weekend, everyone !

You're It

Probably I spent more than 3 hours to think how to name this painting. When I was painting this, I thought I would name it ' Hide & Seek'. Because  for me, it felt like the tomato on the left was counting while the other was trying to hide behind the glass.  But after re-thinking, my choice has been 'You're it !' - just because it seems more like they just saw each other ( rather than starting the game )

It's 11:30pm now and my apartment is still 24 Celsious............ hot, hot and hot !

Yellow Wall

I noticed that my edges are getting crispier than before. I don't know if this is good or bad - I will just let it be . Anyways, I am painting more often now - happy to keep my brushes busy.

Cocktail Milk

This is pure milk - not a mixture with other drink in spite of the tile. It's just my version of short for [cocktail tomato + milk]

 

By the way, one of my art teachers from long time ago once told me not to use black and white (I was doing watercolor then). Now I am using oil paints as my medium but somehow I applied the rule(?) to my oil painting as well (except white). Although I had a black tube that came with the paint set I bought, I had not used it until I painted this one. I like it's strong and intense color. Probably I will use it again.

Standing on the Edge

These tomatoes are still on my table and got even softer. Because of that, I was able to put one on the edge of the class cup and paint. And......... I am not sure if you can see it but one of the tomatoes is actually inside of the glass. :)

Against Green

I am painting cocktail tomatoes this week and they are getting softer and softer. Maybe I should put my props back into my refridgerator after painting but I usually forget to do that and leave them over night or longer. So most of the time, they are no longer fresh to eat.  I am wondering if other artists eat their props after done painting.

Updated - I just realized that the color on the bottom (blue) is more like dark brown on the actual painting. I will try to take a better photo soon.

Parallel

I use a small IKEA table for setting up my props and it's about 18" tall and that gives me a slightly looking down view with a sitting stance. But I recently wanted to try an eye level view so I elevated my setting higher with my son's wooden toy boxes. There were many box-hunting runs to gain height while trying to set up the tomatoes. And it took more than actual painting time ( ha ha !) - I should stay with this height for a while. **smile**

This was done last night. I was having so fun painting this. I didn't realize I stayed up till 1:30 a.m. but I like how it turned out so it was worth it.  

 

If you like to hear a weather report for Vancouver area - It is raining here.  And I went out for a walk with an umbrella after dinner. I know many people who loves rainy days. And I was one of them when I was living in Korea - not so much now because it rains almost everyday in Winter ( Autumn and Spring too) . I would like one wet day out of ten days but not through the whole winter ! ( Okay, stop complaining and get to the point, Jiyoung!)  ** clearing my throat**  Anyways, what I was trying to say is that I enjoyed walking through rain this evening even though you might hear me complaining about rainy days sometimes. The sound and rhythm of the rain that hit my umbrella........., the atmosphere it created with slight fog in distance........, and the cooler temperature in the air. Oh! and the water puddles too. I hope the sky is clear tomorrow so that I can see reflections on water puddles.
